Do I Still Need Speech?

In the car today, little Miss M. who cracks me up begins this wonderful conversation when she hears the weather report of another 2-4 inches of snow here in MI. We just got our power back (it was COLD!!!!), the foot or more of snow has all melted, and now we are due for more snow.

Our conversation:

M: Are we going to have a Fred?

Mom: A what?

M: A fred!

Mom: Are we going to sled?

M: NO!!!!! YOU KNOW MOM!!!! All that water in our basement!!!!

Mom: OH!!!! You mean a FLOOD!!!!

Mom: Better not! Only if our power goes out again.

I think I need a personal translator!

Putting Toys Together---UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a single mom, there is not much I do not attempt to try, and assembling toys the girls received for Chanukah and their birthdays ranks right up there.

Maddy got from Mom the coolest doll play pen complete with wind up mobile that plays music, a toy fish tank with real water in the side, and an attachable bassinet.

Too bad Mom put the dam%%^ thing together wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It got completely assembled, when I realized, "the fabric is pulling funny." Yeah it is! It is backwards!

It now involves taking a screwdriver to pop out these strange little metal locking things, removing all the parts in reverse order, and starting over from Step 1 in the direction book! UGH!!!!!

And, Maddy got Baby Alive for her birthday yesterday. Why in the world would it take over half an hour to remove ONE doll from a box?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Along with scissors and a steak knife! UGH!!!!!

Maddy also received for her 5th birthday THE coolest V-Tech digital camera. Not sure if we even have enough batteries to get this thing up and running yet, but it plays games, holds up to 200 pics with internal memory, and takes up to 5 minutes of video! Cool gadget for a kid.

HAPPY FIFTH BIRTHDAY MADDY

My sweet little "baby" woke up this morning to find a small gift which Santa had left (barbie clothes, candy, and a small kelly doll) and to one of her MANY birthday presents--a Baby Alive doll.

She is thrilled! Too bad mom forgot to get extra diapers for this doll who drinks, and pees, and is now wearing a towel while her one and only diaper dries out for the next week.

When we asked Maddy how old she is, she replied, "four?" "six?" "eleventeen?"

She cannot quite grasp the concept of FIVE! She told her Bama this morning (who she shares a christmas b-day with) she did not get ANY bigger, and is still FOUR!

She will have her very first "real" birthday party in January with some friends from preschool at Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Happy Birthday to my BIG girl!

Having a BIG Sister

Having a big sister is FUN!!!!! You learn all sorts of BAD things to say from your almost 12 year old sister.

Tonight, after opening Chanukah presents, the girls were all playing with M's fishing game. M says to big sis, "Get out of my chair nitwit!"

That cute little face with the piggy tales, her high squeaky voice----priceless!

Cute Pics I Had to Share

While trying to find a picture for our holiday cards, I found some pics of the girls I just had to share.

Have to Brag!

Just have to brag. The holiday present shopping is all done, and they are even wrapped!

That leaves me time to dip lots (and I mean lots) of pretzel sticks for teachers and daycare workers. And maybe some shopping for ME!

We never even left the house today as it has been snowing nonstop. I am in desperate need of some snow boots, but did not want to drive in it.

The girls went out to play in the snow. They were having a blast until L came back in with tons of snow in her boot. Playtime was over, and it was time for hot cocoa and cookies.

They love snow. I don't!
